Welcome to 8th grade geography on the Warrior team!
Welcome to the Warrior team and Geography! This year we will explore
many important things in our world. We will start off the year by
quickly reviewing the key themes from Geography last year, then add a
dash of economics, and finally the rest of the year we will slowly
travel around the world discussing the Eastern Hemisphere countries and
cultures.
Current EventsThis
is an activity that we will try and do for a few minutes to start off
every day. Your job as a student is to always have at least one piece
of information about something on the news or in the newspaper. Some days we are also watching CNN Student News at the beginning of class- it's a great source of news for students! Feel free to check it out at home! A little blip about me
I grew up in Boulder, Colorado on the Front Range. I moved to Minnesota when I chose St. Olaf as where I wanted to spend my college years. I loved it so much that I decided to stay! I have been lucky to be able to travel quite a bit in my life, which is one of the main reasons why I absolutely LOVE what I teach. When I was in 9th grade my family decided to live in Nottingham, England for most of the year. This was the beginning of my traveling obsession! At St. Olaf I almost spent more time abroad than on campus, and I now try to travel almost every summer. These past 2 summers’ I have spent taking classes in China and South Africa for a couple of weeks each. I love to take what I learn and bring it back into the classroom.
I currently live in Northfield, and am married to Kyle Carson who works at our alma mater, St. Olaf. We have a son, River Laughery Carson who is now an active 2 year old! I spend a lot of my time doing lesson plans, and working on diversity issues in our district. I love what I do and am always excited about another school year!
